Ask Us Anything: Kent Employment Law and Diversified Rehabilitation Group

By , On , In General

On January 26th, Diversified will be partnering with Kent Employment Law (KEL) in a Webinar to answer your questions about legal obligations and return-to-work.

Diversified and KEL partnered in November 2017 to provide the Kelowna Employer Forum. At this event, Kasia Rynkowski (Diversified),  Ashley Russo (YMCA) and David Brown, (KEL) discussed key issues relating to employee disability and workplace accommodation. The presenters shared their different perspectives on the complex issue of accommodating employees after occupational or non-occupational injury or illness.  As well, David Brown and Simon Kent have joined Derek Sienko in providing a Return-to-Work Lunch and Learn for HR professionals in both Kelowna and Vancouver.

In the upcoming webinar, Derek Sienko will be providing his expertise in the areas of disability management and return-to-work. His goal for this webinar is to provide employers, HR managers, insurance providers, and employees with the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the legal restrictions around returning to work.

When asked about the reasoning behind the webinar, Sienko said:

“Unfortunately, returning-to-work can be held up by either the employee or the employer not being aware of their legal obligations and worrying about ‘over-stepping’ their boundaries. We want to prevent this from happening by educating everyone on their rights and responsibilities.”

Kent Employment Law advises employers and employees throughout British Columbia on all employment-related legal matters, including employee contracts, wrongful dismissal, severance packages, Employment Standards issues, disability, and workplace harassment and discrimination. Simon Kent from KEL will provide his perspective from a legal point of view on how employers and employees can best protect themselves in these situations.
